Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how maktabah.link and its research canvas Raqim (raqim.maktabah.link) handle your information, including any data accessed through Google APIs. It is operated by Tetupai Technologies (CT0143204-H).
1. What maktabah.link and Raqim do
maktabah.link is a private, per-institution server that exposes a classical Islamic library (Shamela) to the user's own AI client through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Raqim is a visual research canvas that lets a researcher organise findings — book cards, quotes, comparisons, notes — into a study board. All study data is stored locally in your own browser (localStorage) by default.
2. Google user data we access (Google Drive)
Raqim offers an optional feature to save and open your study canvas files using your own Google Drive, so you can move a study between your devices. If and only if you choose to use this feature:
-
We request the
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.filescope. This is the most limited Drive scope: it grants access only to files that Raqim itself creates, or files that you explicitly pick through the Google Picker. Raqim cannot see, read, or list any other file in your Google Drive. -
Saving: when you click "Save to Google Drive", Raqim writes a
single
.jsonfile (your study board) to your Drive. -
Opening: when you click "Drive", the Google Picker lets you
choose one
.jsonstudy file; Raqim reads that file's contents to rebuild the canvas in your browser.
3. How we use, store, and share this data
- Use: Google Drive access is used solely to provide the user-facing save/open feature described above — a prominent feature in Raqim's interface. We do not use it for any other purpose.
- Storage: we do not store your Google data on our servers. The Drive access token is held only in your browser's memory for the duration of the session and is never persisted or transmitted to us. File contents move directly between your browser and Google Drive.
- Sharing: we do not sell, transfer, or share your Google user data with any third party. We do not use it to train any AI or machine-learning model.
- Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Data stored in your browser
Your study boards are stored in your browser's local storage on your device. If
you clear your browser data, these boards are removed. Saving to Google Drive (or
downloading a .json file) is how you keep a copy outside the browser.
5. The MCP library server
When Raqim or an AI client connects to a maktabah.link institution server, the server records request metadata only (such as request path, status, and time) for operations and compliance. The content of your questions and the text of search results are not logged.
6. Revoking access
You can revoke Raqim's access to your Google Drive at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access does not delete study files already saved in your Drive; you manage those from Drive directly.
7. Children
maktabah.link and Raqim are tools for scholarly research and are not directed to children under 13.
8. Changes to this policy
