Terms of Service

Last updated: 25 October 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of maktabah.link and its research canvas Raqim (raqim.maktabah.link), operated by Tetupai Technologies (CT0143204-H) ("we", "us"). By using the service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

maktabah.link provides access to a classical Islamic library (Shamela) through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) so that your own AI client can search and read the texts. Raqim is a visual research canvas that helps you organise findings — books, quotes, comparisons, and notes — into a study board, verify quotes against the source texts, and synthesise them into a research draft. Use of Raqim's canvas features is free.

2. Scholarly integrity and scope of use

The service is a research aid, not a source of religious rulings. It surfaces what is written in the books, with citations you can verify; it does not issue fatwa, does not rule a hadith sound or weak on its own authority, and does not attribute words to a book it has not actually read. You are responsible for checking every citation against its source and for any conclusions you draw. The service does not provide religious, legal, medical, or financial advice.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

4. Your content and data

Your study boards are stored locally in your browser. If you choose to use the optional Google Drive feature, your study files are saved to your own Google Drive and we do not store them on our servers. Our handling of your data, including any Google user data, is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

5. Third-party services

The service relies on third parties, including your chosen AI client and, if you enable it, Google Drive. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

6. Availability and changes

We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the service at any time. We may also update these Terms as the service evolves; the "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that search results are complete.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tetupai Technologies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including any reliance on its output without verifying the underlying sources.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

10. Contact
